3 May 2023

On 13 April 2023, a dinner-debate was organised by the Carrefour des Entrepreneurs de l'Océan Indien at the Motel Anosy in Antananarivo, Madagascar, on the theme of "international aid for the economic development of the islands of the south-west Indian Ocean". The dinner brought together a number of international bodies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and, above all, business leaders from Madagascar and neighbouring islands. It was an opportunity to share international funding mechanisms for Madagascar's economy and the concrete actions undertaken in the field by international NGOs.

Action Education took an active part in this dinner-debate. Rado Raveloarijaona, Coordinator of Action Education's Indian Ocean Territory, presented the projects currently underway in Madagascar. These are: the Basic Education Support Project (PAEB), the Socio-professional and Civic Integration Project for Young Single Mothers who have dropped out of School in Antananarivo (SANDRATRA), the Investing in Early Childhood Education and Protection Project (IEPPE) and the Village Orange Enfance project. The other panellists at this meeting were: the Ambassador of the Union of the Comoros to Madagascar, the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System, the Director of AFD in Madagascar, the Political Adviser of the European Union in Madagascar, the Representative of IFC in Madagascar, the Representative of GIZ, the Representative of WHH, the Country Representative of Fert and the Country Representative of AVSF.
