After four years of implementation in eight communes, the Support for Governance and Relay Initiatives for Quality Education in Benin (AGIR Benin) project is entering its closing phase, scheduled for the end of November 2023. To achieve this, it is necessary to take steps to consolidate what has been achieved. Hence the importance of the workshop on consolidating the project's achievements, held on 21 September at the La Mariella hotel in Ouidah. The workshop was opened by the authorities in charge of nursery and primary education, the Head of the Basic Education and Vocational Training Department of the Swiss Development Cooperation in Benin, the mayors of the 8 communes where the project is active in the Atlantic department, and others.
The aim of the workshop is to define strategies for sustaining the high added-value actions developed by the project. It will make it possible to identify the actions, models and initiatives with high added value, carry out a prospective analysis of the mechanism for implementing the actions with a view to sustainability, identify the potential players who can take on the challenges of these actions, identify the challenges and strategies for supporting these players and define a monitoring roadmap to be piloted by the town halls. The aim was to lay the foundations for the sustainability of the achievements of the AGIR-Benin project, which for four years has made a significant contribution to improving the quality of education in the areas covered. At the end of the workshop, recommendations were made and a roadmap was drawn up. The products of this workshop will be used to enrich the sustainability mechanism put in place since the start of the project.
