On Friday 3 August 2018, the Palais du peuple in Conakry (National Assembly) was the setting for the official launch of the project Suivi citoyen de l'action publique et gouvernance participative. The launch ceremony, chaired by the Secretary General of the National Assembly, featured speeches by the Head of the European Union Delegation, the Country Director of Aide et Action Guinée, and the PACV Coordinator. The honour fell to the Secretary General of the National Assembly, Mr Mohamed BERETE, to deliver the launch speech. Two members of parliament and representatives of civil society organisations honoured the ceremony with their presence. All the speakers acknowledged the relevance of the project, which aims to strengthen the expertise of civil society organisations (CSOs), support CSO action in monitoring public policies and facilitate the appropriation of the rights-based approach by civil society actors.
This is a twelve-month project (July 2018 to June 2019) funded by the European Union to the tune of 300,000 Euros. The project will be implemented in fourteen (14) communes in seven (7) administrative regions (Boké, Kindia, Mamou, Labé, Faranah, kankan and N'zerekore) and Conakry, the capital.
The targets: 42 local associations from 7 CSO collectives, 85 NGOs and trade union centres, 220 local elected representatives, 56 executives from devolved administrative departments; 300 CSOs, 150 grassroots community organisations, 20 MPs and 7,000 citizens.
