IEPPE project in Madagascar: High-quality infrastructure built for young children

20 February 2024

As part of the work to bring the Preschool Activity Centres (CAPs) of the Investing in Early Childhood Education and Protection (IEPPE) project up to standard, co-financed with the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), a joint provisional acceptance mission was carried out by members of the Coordination and Project teams from 24 to 30 January 2024. This mission took place in the 8 CAPs of Antsirabe II with the Head of CISCO and his team, and above all the teaching staff, the members of the School Management Committee (FEFFI), the Ezaka company, the Manjato BTP engineering office and Action Education Madagascar.

At the end of each provisional acceptance session, it is clear that the beneficiaries, the schools' teaching staff and, above all, the pre-school teachers and academic authorities are totally satisfied with the quality of the infrastructure put in place. Each site is equipped with a large classroom, a play area and latrine blocks, plus teaching materials and furniture for early childhood.

It was also an opportunity to raise awareness among the various stakeholders of the need to maintain these new infrastructures to ensure their durability.

Finally, the Action Education Madagascar team took the opportunity to visit local civil society organisations, KOZAMA and the Association Sœur Emmanuelle (ASMAE), to discuss and identify possible areas of collaboration on ECCE both in the region and nationally.
