Making a bequest

Mask med

Making a bequest to Action Education is a huge and lasting gesture to give education as a legacy.

What is a legacy?

A bequest is a provision in your will that allows you to pass on all or part of your estate to an association such as Action Education. Your legacy will only take effect after your death: you can therefore modify or cancel your will at any time during your lifetime.

You can pass on any type of property: money, real estate, furniture, jewellery, works of art, copyrights, etc., taking care to respect the share of your heirs (children or their direct descendants).

If you have no heir and there is no will, your property will revert in full to the State.

Why bequeath to Action Education?

" By leaving a legacy to Action Education, you will change the lives of thousands of children by providing them with access to education. You will forever associate your name and assets with a cause that is close to your heart. "

Jean-Pierre PICHAUD - President of Action Education

A bequest allows you to support our educational work in the future, without dispossessing yourself of your assets until the day you die. You can therefore continue to enjoy the asset(s) you have decided to bequeath, knowing that they will subsequently contribute to changing the future for generations to come.

Moreover, bequests to Action Education are totally exempt from inheritance tax. The entirety of the bequeathed goods will therefore be devoted to the education of children deprived of this fundamental right.

Bequeath with confidence

Founded in 1981, Action Education is an association recognised as being of public utility and approved by the Ministry of Education. Our projects are supported by the French Development Agency and the European Union. Each year, our accounts are audited and certified by an auditor, and we publish an activity report.

How to leave a legacy to Action Education?

In order to make a legacy to Action Education, it is compulsory to draw up a will.

You can choose between three types of wills...

Holographic wills

You must write your will by hand, being as precise as possible, dating it and signing it. To be sure that it will be found and taken into account at your death, we advise you to register it with a notary, who can enter it in the Central Last Will and Testament File.

The authentic will

You dictate your will to a civil law notary, who guarantees its authenticity, in the presence of a second civil law notary or two witnesses with whom you are not related. The notary keeps the original copy of your will and registers it in the Fichier Central des Dispositions de Dernière Volonté.

The mystical will

The sealed will may be drawn up by yourself, by a third party or typed. It is then handed to a civil law notary in a sealed envelope in the presence of two witnesses. The latter records this delivery by a "subscription" document, but does not verify the legal validity of your will.

... And three forms of legacy

The universal legacy

It is possible if you do not have any heirs with right to reserve, and allows you to bequeath your entire estate to us.

The universal legacy

You bequeath a share of your assets (30 %, 50 %...) or a certain category of your property: all your furniture, your real estate...

The particular legacy

The sealed will may be drawn up by yourself, by a third party or typed. It is then handed to a civil law notary in a sealed envelope in the presence of two witnesses. The latter records this delivery by a "subscription" document, but does not verify the legal validity of your will.

I did not understand the difference between a legacy and a donation

A bequest is a legal act by which property is passed on after death.

A donation allows you to pass on an asset during your lifetime. It is irreversible and must be the subject of a notarial deed in certain cases.

For more information, see our " The donation "or contact Audrey Grosjean at [email protected] or on 01.55.25.40.92

Can I request that my donation or legacy money be used for a specific purpose?

The money collected by Action Education is generally pooled and used to finance, as needed, all the projects set up by the association in favour of education.

If you have specific wishes, please contact Audrey Grosjean by e-mail, to the address : [email protected] or by telephone, at 01.55.25.40.92.

Is the intervention of a notary necessary for a gift, donation and legacy?

While the intervention of a notary is not mandatory for donations, it is for gifts.

In the case of a bequest, the consultation of a notary is not compulsory but is strongly recommended.
