The COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on India, leading to the closure of schools and businesses alike. Action Education immediately developed strategies to deal with the loss of learning, in particular by developing the use of digital tools (artificial intelligence, coding, teaching STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) in learning. The association has also
supported young people by offering vocational training and enhancing the skills of entrepreneurs.

The aim of the project
Implemented in conflict-ridden areas and in the most isolated villages affected by the actions of several revolutionary groups, the project aims to equip disadvantaged young people with skills suited to the job market, and to support them in finding employment and/or setting up their own business.
What we did
Key figures
- 941 young people, including 308 women, were trained in 7 skill areas
- 75 % of women and 80 % of men trained found paid employment following the training course
- A total of 88 % of trained applicants were from marginalised communities, including Scheduled Tribes (34.1 %) and Scheduled Castes (17.43 %).
- The average salary of a placed candidate is €78.2 per month
- 506 families have been lifted out of poverty thanks to the project
