At the end of January 2019, France Télévisions' Africa editorial team took an interest in the school electrification experiments carried out simultaneously in Africa by several NGOs. It publishes on its website an article mentioning Aide et Action's success in bringing light to schools, which has resulted not only in significant improvement in the academic results of all the students in the schools concerned but also in the setting up of literacy projects for women in these same schools, in the evenings, after school. While 27 schools in Benin, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire and Guinea are already equipped by Aide et Action within the framework of the ALFA project, at a cost of 6,000 euros each, more than a hundred additional schools in these 4 countries will benefit from all the necessary equipment before the end of 2019.
Supporting girls' menstruation to improve their attendance at school
In Benin, many schools do not have latrines or water points. This lack of sanitary infrastructure makes many girls uncomfortable during their menstrual period, even causing some of them to drop out of school.
