With MAG Junior 2024, Action Education wants to promote the expression of young people living in precarious housing supported by our partners in Europe: Médecins du Monde in Bulgaria, Stea in Romania, and CL.A.S.S.E.S in France.
In order to facilitate the expression and psychosocial well-being of young people, an important prerequisite for learning and essential for socio-professional success, we have invited our partners to run workshops on the following themes Let's live in the world! with the support of artists and professionals of their choice (videographer, photographer, podcast creator, illustrator).
Are you a youth worker or teacher working with young people aged 13 to 16? We offer youlead activities related to the MAG Junior theme : Let's live in the world! Just like the "inhabitants" of MAG Junior 2024, give them a voice through creative activities such as creative interviews!
And if living in the world meant expressing yourself, connecting with others!
Bulgaria - Through experimentation, creation and communication, the young people of Nadezhda, supported by Médecins du Monde, are developing their knowledge, skills and know-how, thereby strengthening their ability to take action.
Nadezhda is a marginalised district of the town of Sliven in Bulgaria. It is linked to the rest of the city by a tunnel that runs under the railway line. Most of its inhabitants live in precarious conditions. Children lack safe places to gather and play with each other.
Since 2021, Action Education has been working in partnership with Médecins du Monde Bulgaria to develop the POWER project (People Organised Working for their Empowerment and their Rights), designed to empower the residents of Nadezhda. Daily educational and psychosocial activities are carried out with local children and young people. As part of the Living in the worldIn a series of photo workshops, the teenagers expressed their views on their environment and developed their interaction skills by taking part in social circus sessions.
And if living in the world meant being informed!
Romania - The young people of Sǎtmǎrel supported by Stea create and learn to develop their social skills.
Since 2004, Stea has been working in Satu Mare, Romania, for the social and educational inclusion of members of the population living in precarious conditions, including the Roma population of Sǎtmǎrel, a marginalised district of the city. Action Education has been supporting Stea in its work since 2018.
In order to develop self-esteem, self-confidence and, ultimately, individual and collective power to act, the young people of Sǎtmǎrel were supported in their contributions to the action. Living in the world ! by a journalist and video maker. They took part in journalism workshops to gain a better understanding of their options after secondary school. By producing and broadcasting mini-reports in the form of interviews, these young people become spokespersons for other young people who also want to find out about possible career paths.
And if [asking yourself] questions was a bit like living in the world!
France - Young people from the Greater Lyon area, supported by C.L.A.S.S.E.S., are examining their professional future to find their place.
Since 2020, Action Education has been supporting C.L.A.S.S.E.S. (Collectif Lyonnais pour l'Accès à la Scolarisation et le Soutien aux Enfants des Squats), which facilitates access to schooling for children living in shanty towns, squats or any temporary accommodation.
A team, supported by the skills of illustrators and a podcast creator, led workshops in which young people were guided in formulating their questions and preparing and conducting interviews with professionals.
