Fighting taboos around menstruation in Benin

In Benin, according to a study, nearly one girl out of 7 does not go to school when she has her period. In order to limit absenteeism which undermines girls' schooling, Aide et Action is supporting 880 students in managing their menstrual hygiene, through a component of its AGIR project (Support to Governance and Relay Initiatives).

In Burkina Faso, solar lamps to help students learn

International Day of Light: Aide et Action's EECREQ project aims at improving access to quality education in 120 targeted schools in Burkina Faso and Benin. In addition to electrifying schools, solar lamps are distributed to students so that they can do their homework at home after dark. Pupils meet in groups to work, which has an impact on their motivation and solidarity.

AGIR project. For millions of young girls, adolescence is a particularly difficult time. As soon as they start menstruating, the door to childhood and innocence closes. How can they continue to go to school with blood loss, without access to a toilet and without a sanitary napkin? This seems inconceivable in the 21st century, yet it is the daily life of millions of young girls. It is a daily life that has consequences, as it leads to absenteeism and early school leaving.

In Benin, a community goes into agriculture to pay for children's school fees

In Nikki commune, several children have had to drop out of school due to the lack of means of their families, who are unable to pay for their school fees.
