SCOLFILLE: Support for 500 mothers in IGAs for girls' education

To get girls into school and keep them there, the SCOLFILLE project (Appui à la Scolarisation des Filles), with the L'Occitane and Audemars Watkins foundations and the Plan les Ouates commune as financial partners, is counting on the support of 500 mothers through income-generating activities for girls' education.

Getting girls into school: good performance by pupils from SSAP centres

As part of the drive to get girls into school and keep them there, the SCOLFILLE girls' schooling support project has made it a priority to get girls who have never been to school or who left school early back into school, thanks to the SSAP (Stratégie de Scolarisation Accélérée à Passerelle - Accelerated Schooling Bridge Strategy). For the past two to three years, pupils from the SSAP centres have been integrated into the mainstream school system in host schools. What has become of them?

SCOLFILLE: IGA training for AME members to support girls' education

Members of the Associations of Mothers Educators (AME) from the Yoro and Lon schools received training in making kabakourou soap and kokodonda loincloths respectively. These are income-generating activities (IGAs) that the AMEs are to carry out for the benefit of the schools, to support girls' education in particular.

Burkina Faso: 10 young internally displaced persons receive vocational training 

In order to support the socio-professional integration of young internally displaced persons, Action Education has initiated an emergency micro-project using its own funds for their training. Ten (10) young girls and boys benefiting from the micro-project are placed in training centres and apprenticeship workshops in Léo, the capital of the Sissili province in central western Burkina Faso. The trades chosen by the beneficiaries include hairdressing, sewing, computer graphics and secretarial work, motorbike mechanics and welding.

Burkina Faso: drinking water for schoolchildren in Tambao  

The Ecole Eclairée Centre de Ressources pour une Education de Qualité (EECREQ) project has implemented a micro-project financed by the Mouvement bénévole de France. The major achievement is a positive borehole in the Tambao public primary school in the commune of Cassou, Ziro province, in central western Burkina Faso. The school has three classrooms and no nearby drinking water supply, so pupils and teaching staff had to walk more than two kilometres to get water.

Celebration of International Children's Rights Day in Léo, Burkina Faso

On 27 November 2024, the Kutian public primary school in the commune of Léo, Sissili province, Burkina Faso, hosted the delayed celebration of the International Day of the Rights of the Child. The commemoration was an opportunity to remind decision-makers, the community and adults alike of the need to respect the rights of the child, as set out in the Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 20 November 1989.

IEPPE project in Burkina Faso: Field visit by the Orange Foundation

Investing in Early Childhood Education and Protection (IEPPE) is a project implemented in Burkina Faso by Action Education with co-funding from the Orange Foundation and the Michelham Foundation, and in partnership with the education authorities and communities in the beneficiary areas. To get a better idea of what has already been achieved, the Orange Foundation's Education Officer visited sites in Sapouy, the capital of Ziro province.
