webinar on menstrual hygiene in Benin

Menstruation is still a taboo subject in Beninese schools. Thus, the arrival of the first period for a girl very often leads to a drop in school attendance. Action Education has been fighting for several years for adequate education on menstruation in this West African country. A webinar was organised on Tuesday 22 November on this issue.

Insecurity and terrorism: the right to education sacrificed

Growing insecurity in Burkina Faso and Mali has led to the closure of hundreds of schools, particularly in areas controlled by terrorists, and a drop in school attendance in other regions. The future of thousands of displaced children, now deprived of their right to education, is threatened. Faced with this situation, Aide et Action is adapting its programs to guarantee access to education for all, girls and boys, which is a source of resilience.

In Africa, Aide et Action works alongside political and health authorities

In Africa, all Aide et Action's countries of intervention are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, to varying degrees. In the face of this health crisis, non-state actors have committed themselves alongside political and health authorities. Aide et Action is playing its role by focusing its intervention on three areas: educational continuity, information and awareness raising and prevention materials.

In sub-Saharan Africa, Aide et Action is committed to youth employability

At the beginning of March, Aide et Action participated in the launch of the "Competencies for Tomorrow" (CFD) program in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The program is implemented by the association Solidarité Laïque, in consortium with Aide et Action and in partnership with other civil society organizations in sub-Saharan Africa. It aims at promoting employability, empowerment and civic participation of young people (16-35 years) in the outskirts of big cities.
