Menstruation is still a taboo subject in Beninese schools. Thus, the arrival of the first period for a girl very often leads to a drop in school attendance. Action Education has been fighting for several years for adequate education on menstruation in this West African country. A webinar was organised on Tuesday 22 November on this issue.

Capitalising on the experience of bridging classes in Niger
Between 2017 and 2021, the PassEduc project experimented with the implementation of "bridging classes" for out-of-school or out-of-school children aged 9 to 14 in Niger. These non-formal classes offer an accelerated education in 1 or 2 years before reintegrating the children into the formal school system (in primary school, secondary school, or vocational training centres).
After the tragic death of twenty children in a school fire in Niger, Aide et Action reacts
On Tuesday 13th April, a fire broke out in a school in Niamey, Niger, destroying 25 classrooms in a straw hut. Aide et Action, which intervenes in this school through the PassEduc project, is mobilizing with the victims and adapting its activities to respond to the emergency.
In Africa, the resumption of classes is proving as late as it is complicated
In Africa, most countries have postponed the start of the school year - in some cases until January 2021 - to try to adapt to the constraints of the Coronavirus. In Africa, Aide et Action works alongside political and health authorities
In Africa, all Aide et Action's countries of intervention are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, to varying degrees. In the face of this health crisis, non-state actors have committed themselves alongside political and health authorities. Aide et Action is playing its role by focusing its intervention on three areas: educational continuity, information and awareness raising and prevention materials.
