Territorial approach in Niger: Monitoring 8 community development microprojects

As part of the programme/territorial approach, the regional coordinator of Aide et Action International/Action Education Afrique, Désiré Arfa, carried out a mission from 14 to 24 November 2024 to monitor eight (8) micro-projects run by stakeholders in the rural communes of Dakoussa and Tirmini in the Zinder region of Niger.

Programme approach in Niger: Eight microprojects approved by the local authorities in Tirmini and Dakoussa

Launched in 2022 in the Zinder region, Aide et Action International/Action Education's new programme strategy has helped stakeholders to formulate and defend their development initiatives, in the fields of climate change and agro-pastoral activities respectively, before the local authorities of Tirmini and Dakoussa. Eight micro-projects were validated.

Support for the schooling of 400 children from vulnerable households

Providing 400 schoolchildren from vulnerable households with school kits to facilitate educational continuity. They come from 129 primary schools in the communes of Dakoussa and Tirmini in the Zinder region of Niger. An Action Education initiative to mitigate the impact of economic sanctions against Niger on vulnerable households.

webinar on menstrual hygiene in Benin

Menstruation is still a taboo subject in Beninese schools. Thus, the arrival of the first period for a girl very often leads to a drop in school attendance. Action Education has been fighting for several years for adequate education on menstruation in this West African country. A webinar was organised on Tuesday 22 November on this issue.

Capitalising on the experience of bridging classes in Niger

Between 2017 and 2021, the PassEduc project experimented with the implementation of "bridging classes" for out-of-school or out-of-school children aged 9 to 14 in Niger. These non-formal classes offer an accelerated education in 1 or 2 years before reintegrating the children into the formal school system (in primary school, secondary school, or vocational training centres).
