" This training course was an opportunity for me to discover film make-up, which is a passion of mine", says Martine Finda LENO, a student at the Institut Supérieur des Arts Mory Kanté in Dubréka, Guinea. Martine is one of 11 young people, including 10 girls, benefiting from training in film make-up organised from 12 to 16 December 2023 at the Laboratoire d'Innovations Sociales (Labis) in Conakry. This is part of the Compétence Pour Demain (CPD) project to support young people in the cultural and creative industries.
"Before, when I was watching films, I used to wonder how we managed to achieve certain performances. Today, thanks to this course, I've discovered the different styles of make-up used in films, including composition make-up, which is used to create a character over and above a beauty objective. I've also learnt how to do pastiches (beards, moustaches, eyebrows) and prostheses (noses, wounds, false skulls)," says Martine, who is very satisfied with the course.
This training is part of the empowerment activities for young people, and it has enabled participants to acquire a variety of skills that will enable them to integrate into socio-professional life. Martine concludes: "The skills I have acquired will enable me to become a professional in this field".
