Skills for Tomorrow
The Laboratoire d'innovations sociales (Labis) in Conakry, in collaboration with the NGO SAVE WOMEN, organised a training session on breast cancer on 09 November 2022. 14 young girls and one young man, members of the Réseau des Jeunes Animateurs Engagés (RAJE), took part in the event. The theoretical part of the training focused on: i) - the definition of cancer, ii) - how to prevent it, iii) - how to detect and refer cases, iv) - how to formulate awareness-raising messages. To put what they had learnt into practice, the participants went out into the field to raise awareness of breast cancer prevention among households and women in the Koloma neighbourhood, where Labis is based. The awareness-raising campaign reached 50 households and 150 women in the Koloma market, as part of the "OCTOBRE ROSE" month dedicated to the fight against breast cancer, and is being implemented as part of the Labis programme.
