Cambodgemag talks about our mobile library boat on Lake Tonle Sap

In Cambodia, to encourage children and parents to place more value on learning and the importance of school, and to improve literacy, Action Education has created 9 mobile libraries - in the form of tuk-tuks - to bring books and educational games to children aged 3 to 11 living in remote villages. The library on the Tonlé Sap lake - in the form of a boat - is another addition to the project. This library contains hundreds of books, connected televisions, an internet connection, fans and a water filter.

"We hope the library will help promote study activities and other skills such as self-care and health awareness. The TVs will be used to support storytelling activities and knowledge related to applied science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). The digital library will also serve as a resource that teachers can use to research pedagogy and career guidance," Vorn Samphors, Country Director, tells us. Cambodgemag.
