24 November, Aide et Actionin partnership with the restaurant La Fraîche, has organised a unique and supportive event: a support dinner in the dark. The objective of this evening is twofold: to raise awareness among the general public about the major challenge of electrifying schools in West Africa and to raise funds for the association's field projects.. A look back at an evening placed under the sign of solidarity.
As a reminder, in West Africa, nearly 200,000 schools are not electrified. A school without electricity means degraded teaching and learning conditions and the holding of classes is dependent on sunlight. In fact, this absence constitutes a major challenge to access to quality education. It is precisely this problem that Aide et Action wanted to raise awareness among the general public. The event took place at the restaurant La Fraîche , a place that "thinks beyond the end of its plate, (where) we make sense and open our eyes and hearts to the world around us". During the evening, the most courageous guests tried to eat "in the dark" while blindfolded. This simple act, which seems playful at first sight, aims to recreate the learning and teaching conditions of schools without electricity.
Aide et Action would like to thank La Fraîche restaurant for opening its doors to us in order to shed light on this educational issue which still prevents thousands of children from having access to quality education.
