To protect the vulnerable populations we support on a daily basis, our teams are doing everything possible to provide an emergency response to the Coronavirus crisis. Each week, follow the evolution of our activities in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Here is an update on our various interventions as of 11 April 2020.

Wherever possible, Aide et Action mobilizes all its human and material resources to develop its projects for the most vulnerable populations. Educating communities on prevention measures and providing them with basic support is our priority. In addition to the activities detailed in our article from 4 AprilHere are the latest developments:

SOUTH ASIA

In IndiaIn order to curb the spread of the epidemic, former beneficiaries of Aide et Action have started creating masks. To do so, they are taking fabrics, originally intended for the making of traditional costumes, to offer an alternative solution to the greatest number of people.
In addition, a press release, shared with the French and international media, summarises our current actions in the country: COVID-19: Aide et Action helps migrant families in India cope with the pandemic.

SOUTH-EAST ASIA

Our activities in Vietnam, and the Laos: Unfortunately, these activities had to be suspended due to the strict containment measures. In both countries, our teams are therefore looking at longer-term solutions to manage the return of children to school after the crisis and to anticipate the impact of the closure of classes on them.
In contrast, in the Cambodia:The first online training sessions for teachers have taken place. They are carried out by our project managers and aim to strengthen their capacity to teach at a distance, especially for disabled children. In addition, food distribution in Phnom Penh has just started. Particularly vulnerable families were given 10 kilos of rice.

AFRIQUE

Most of our activities have been suspended due to health regulations and the quarantine of most major cities. However, our teams are trying to adapt.
In BeninAide et Action is supporting the State in an awareness campaign on the Coronavirus.
In GuineaThe project is currently being discussed with the Orange Foundation. The project would allow: the provision of digital tablets to children who are in exam classes to enable them to continue their learning; the distribution of protection kits; and the setting up of hand-washing facilities in schools.
In TogoIn addition, our teams are helping to build the government's response plan to raise awareness and contain the spread of the virus in schools.

EUROPE

In Francewe have put in place an emergency collection to support our activities on the ground.
In RomaniaOur partner organisation Stea distributes medicines to the vulnerable and marginalised population of the Satmarel slum.

To implement all these urgent actions and to adapt our projects to this emergency situation, we need more than ever our most faithful supporters to help us!
