Menstruation is still a taboo subject in Beninese schools. Thus, the arrival of the first period for a girl very often leads to a drop in school attendance. Action Education has been fighting for several years for adequate education on menstruation in this West African country. A webinar was organised on Tuesday 22 November on this issue.

At the end of this year, Action Education is launching a campaign to mobilise everyone to support its mission for girls.
Empowerment of youth and women in northern Togo
The "Savanes Motaog" project, initiated by Action Education and Plan International in November 2020, supports young people and women in the northern part of Togo, a poor region highly exposed to security risks.

Without access to electricity, primary school children in West Africa study in difficult conditions. But now, thanks to a simple solar solution, Aide et Action is lighting up the education of thousands of children in rural areas of Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Togo.
In Togo, Aide et Action improves access to drinking water and hygiene conditions for school children
In Togo, in the Savanes region, only 12% of primary schools have a water point, and only 5% are equipped with toilets and hand-washing stations! This sanitary situation has serious consequences on the schooling of thousands of children. This is why Aide et Action is intervening to improve access to drinking water and hygiene conditions in seven villages.
Aide et Action's Junior Magazine 2020
Produced during the year 2020, this issue was naturally built around the theme of education in times of crisis. Invited to share their feelings and opinions on the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on their schooling, dozens of students from CE2 to 5e, as well as educational actors, shared their thoughts with us from Benin, Burkina Faso, France, India, Nepal, Romania, Vietnam, Senegal and Togo.
